an adventure to remember

yesterday was federal territory day and the whole of KL got public holiday so we decided to go for a roadtrip. cut long story short..there we were at broga hill, semenyih. honestly, i really didnt expect climbing it was gonna be that tough. somehow from the pictures i see from friends who have climbed it i thought it was gonna be easy...sap sap sui la i thought :p
we reached there around 10am (i think cause none of us checked the time we arrived) which was not a very good time cause the sun was already up and ppl usually hike up to watch sunrise. ok, nvm that it was sunny and we were all sweating like crazy by 10mins, it was the terrain that was the challenge. now that im typing this only i realised that yesterday was my first time ever hiking...woohoo!! haha.
so for a first timer like me, the hike up was a great challenged. i'd never dared climb anything that's steep and by that i mean like 70-75% steep. basically your butt is showing straight to the person behind you as you try to push your body forward as much possible so you wont fall back :p

anyway, we did made it up the hill (kinda). a few went all the way up to the peek but the rest went three quarter and one (which was me) stopped at slightly below three quarter. lol. i still consider that an achievement ok :p coming down was rather easy and somewhat fun-er that going up.

after broga we headed for lunch at the town for pan mee, cendol and ice kacang (recommended by kai seng, the semenyih-ian).

after which, we decided to head for sungai gabai waterfall, which we all thought was not too far. we were all proven wrong when it finally took us one solid hour to get there from semenyih! the place was pretty nice. we had a good time there :) cold chilly water was what we needed from the burn we got from climbing the hill. haha

all in all, it was an awesome day with awesome ppl :)) as i said in my twitter, no matter where the destination is the company you have is what matters most to make a memorable time.

p/s: thanks a bunch to our drivers, tim and wilson for driving us! we know how tough it is to manoeuver a van loaded with 11 ppl under the hot and humid weather. so thank you! :)

hola! :)

my gosh...finally!! i've not been able to access blogspot ever since my last post due to i dont know what. in fact, i've not been able to access google or any google related sites. so when ivan said he fixed something yesterday and he could access his gmail, i thought i'd just give blogspot a shot and...wa la! here i am. lol

so...it's 2010 already (i know i'm kinda slow, blame google :p). yup, yet another year. so sad :( you look back and go "oh my, i cant believe that that was last year!" i have this love-hate thing bout moving into a new year. a new year first of all reminds me that i'm another year older and trust me, i do feel it, now that this would be the third year my age starts with a 2. i've never really thought of it until i suddenly realized that i've only got so much time left to do things that you'd only enjoy doing in your 20s...if you get what i mean :p
and then there're all these uncertain things ahead of you as each new year unfolds. i for one, dislike changes. i know of many who just cant wait to see what awaits them but unfortunately i'm not of one them. i've always thought changes to be 'ma fan' and depressing. although i've been proven wrong many times, i still dont like changes :p

ok so new years are not so bad after all. this is when things you've planned or looked forward to last year could take place right? =) there're probably as many if not more positive stuff that we normally look forward to as each new year arrives.

oh well, bottom line is, God is in control of every thing and all we little people of this earth have to do is very simple, trust. i know it's easier said than done. i myself fall short of this all the time and have to be constantly reminded.
Note to myself: He knows what's He doing ok, He's God after all! so learn to let go and let the driver take control of the wheel! :)

phew...that's a whole chunk of words. lol

they call it the City of Entertainment

this is probably the 10th-15th time i've been up there and though it was only two days and a bit, i enjoyed it nonethelss. yup, Genting Highlands is the place im talking bout. went there on monday and back yesterday. it was kinda like a love-hate thing for me to go there. it was really fun to be able to get away from the city for awhile and just have fun without really bothering bout anything else but where to eat and what to do next. haha. but at the same time, going there made me wish i could just continue there and not bother bout school and the future.

if you had been up to first world hotel, you would notice the whole place is decorated in a way that makes you feel like you're in some fantasy land. all the colorful lights, music, hustle of people and little buildings that consist of shops. there's even a little bar that has a band playing and singing at night so loud that the whole of first world can hear them. haha. i especially love the night life there and the view is pretty at night =)

took this in the evening though

the point is holidays and retreats, be it far or near, are essential in a sense that they help us to get our minds off the reality for a moment. to just relax and have fun. i believe everyone needs it at some point of another or at least i know i do :p haha.

i'll post some photos here soon. facebook ones will have to wait cause i just deleted my java :p

watch what's in front of you

i never realized i'm that clumsy until recently :p

i've been knocking, hurting and not to mention burning myself quite frequent recently. i dont know why but i guess clumsiness is the only answer. so far my right side wins for the most burns and left side for knocks. so lets see what are they:

a) several little burns on my fingers from cooking.
b) two scratches on my right hand that i have no idea where from
c) a blue-black mark on my left thigh that i no clue from where too
d) a dented bone near the ankle from slipping in a toilet
and...two new ones, got them just less than an hour ago...
e) a bruise on my left knee - hit it at the edge of the computer table
f) a knock near the right eyebrow when trying to take sth from under the bed

yup. i am clumsy. but somehow i'm only clumsy when at home. it's either i dont realize it or that i'm just not clumsy when outside. heh. that's strange.

there's a reason for everything but He is with me

There's a time to live
And a time to die
There's a time to laugh
And a time to cry
There's a time for war
And a time for peace
There's a hand to hold
In the worst of these

He is with you when your faith is dead
And you can't even get out of bed
Or your husband doesn't kiss you anymore
He is with you when your baby's gone
And your house is still,
And your hearts a stone
Cryin' God, what'd You do that for
He is with you

There's a time for yes
And a time for no
There's a time to be angry
And a time to let it go
There is a time to run
And a time to face it
There is love to see you
Through all of this

He is with you in the conference room
When the world is coming down on you
And your wife and kids don't know you anymore
He is with you in the ICU
When the doctors don't know what to do
And it scares you to the core
He is with you

We may weep for a time
But joy will come in the morning
The morning light

He is with you when your kids are grown
When there's too much space
And you feel alone
And you're worried if you
got it right or wrong
Yes He is with you
when you've given up on ever finding your true love
Someone who feels like home
He is with you

When nothing else is left
And you take your final breath
He is with you

You are the reason I sing

yup that's right. i have been on a long break since july :p oh well. last post july 13? oops...on a loong break huh u must be wondering. hahaha. well..to my defence, there's nothing much that i felt like blogging bout that's why and of course there's the main reason..LAZY =P i'm pretty much enjoying the 'holidays' before my degree starts in october =) speaking of that, i really thank God for this programme that i'm enrolling. as of mid last month, i still had not much clues on which programme i should be taking. the one-year or two-year and it kinda got a lil depressing mainly because i really want the one-year but the two-year option seem more possible. haha. so like "er...which to choose?" but He is amazing! i later found out that it's possible for me to take the one-year programme. wee...!! i really thought i would have to reluctantly settle for the two-year but God made it all possible =)

a BIG THANK YOU to my heavenly Father!!

************************************************************

i like things to stay the way they are

pre-warning: if this whole post doesnt make any sense to you, dont worry, it just cause i felt like crapping that's why :p lol.

yup. just as my title suggests...i do like when things/situations are familiar. for those who know me well enough will know that i dont like new environment. its depressing :p

just like our lives, there are some things we just wish would remain the way they are. sometimes changes are not all that beneficial especially when it's not really a change after all, it's just some silly past that decides to come back and haunt you. when there are some things that you wish would stay away till you decide that you're ready to face them again, suddenly reappears. what to do? how do you overcome it when all it does is to take up all of yourself most of the time? it occupies most of your time and you loose focus a lot. it's as if it's stuck to you. you've been trying so hard to get rid of it but now it's back! you did not ask for it but it just came...back! :p and it makes you wonder, is this some kind of test from God?

ok i think i better stop here or i'll cause more confusion and curiosity :p this is what happens when you have nothing to do and suddenly you feel like ranting bout the things you thought bout in your FREE time. bad bad. haha. moral of the day from ivy mak: keep yourself busy -_- lol

the joy ride of all times

recognise these images? i'm sure most of you do. haha. who wouldn't? yup. it's our beloved and famous KTM :p

with ktm...you don't know what to expect. everyday is a mystery and a surprise somewhat. this morning, no different from other mornings, was yet another mystery. the limited-stop shuttle train was supposed to be ferrying us today. the limited-stop shuttle train are those that only stop at certain stations..'popular' station i would say, those that have tons of people. ok so...back to my story, yup, the train arrived...packed (like im surprised) and of all days, today the station where i wait was filled extra many people. so i assumed that the previously scheduled train hadn't make its appearance. as usual, when you have tons of eager and anxious people who are scared that they wouldn't make it into the already packed train and be late for work, started pushing their way in. at this point, the best spot to place yourself in is in the middle of the crowd..wee...that way you dont have to walk or push yourself in, others will do it for you :p ok so i was in but quarter of the crowd at the platform had no choice but to stay back to wait for the next train that's coming in 20 mins (20mins!!!).

now, the situation in that train is not what you'd like to experience on a working morning..well actually even every other morning. the air conditioning system was down! can you believe it? hundreds of human sardines stuck and cramped in a air cond-less train for half and hour!! given my oh-so-tall heighti got the best of both worlds : odours and air(less). everyone was sweating like pig. make-ups ruined, suits soaked, hair tousled, arms sticky with sweat...get the picture? it was so humid in there that the windows were covered with mist. i had a hard time telling what station it was each time the train stopped. i could hardly hear the driver's announcement of stations which sounded more like a whisper to me than an announcement and the windows were blur so i cant see the signs outside -_- so i just stood there the whole journey guessing each station we stopped and hoping to reach KL Sentral asap before passing out because it was getting harder to breath.

i've never appreciated air conditioning or rather just air more than when i stepped out of that sardine can :p so there you go...my 30-minute-train-ride story

my stomach growls at the sight of these :)

looking for recipes online sure makes you hungry even if you've just eaten a packet of hearty nasi lemak a few hours ago. these delicious looking food sure does make one's stomach growl...if it doesn't then that person must be either an aneroxic or bulimic :p mind you these are only a few of the countless and it's already making me hungry.

i love food.
